Yesterday had to have been one of the best days of my life. I by chance ended up at school, and luckily I was because it was the day of our senior awards assembly. I was nervous and scared because of stage fright and not knowing what would be said; however, it was great. The first two names called out were myself and Tevin Gray. Tevin is one of my battle buddies in the Army National Guard. He first was presented his awards and $66k from the army. I was presented with my awards, with a good list of achievements and then I was presented with a Julian Munyon scholarship as well as $79k from the army! I can’t describe to you how much happiness I felt in that moment. I know I was smiling so big and I just couldn’t help it.

Once I got back to my seat, I began to reconsider my decision of not going to college. My thoughts were that I was just awarded all of this money, and I would be wasting most of it if I didn’t go to college. Some people can’t go to college because they don’t have the money and some people would kill for that much money to go to school. I began to think about other money I was getting for college as well as other scholarships. I knew in that moment I would make my self, my family, and everyone else proud. I plan to use the money to first receive a Bachelor’s Degree in education and from there pursue a Master’s Degree.
