Wednesday, May 3, 2017 Star City High School students took their college level Advanced Placement Literature and Composition exam. The test was held in the Health and Physical Education Building on Star City High School campus starting at 8:00 a.m. All of the AP Lit students have been preparing for this final exam all year long. Mrs. Brandy Walls, the Advanced Placement Literature teacher, has done an outstanding job teaching the students the essentials needed to get a qualifying score. Any students who scores a 3 or above will be exempt from Comp. 2 during their first year of college. The 3 hour long AP exam consisted of 55 multiple choice questions based on passages read and 3 essays.

"I thought the test would be a lot less challenging than what it was, but I had a lot of confidence going into the exam because Mrs. Walls has really helped prepare me for this exam as well as college. I feel like I did a decent job and I couldn't have done it without her help," said Star City High School Student, Makayla Holbert-Chapman.

The AP exam is supposed to test the students skills they have acquired and allow them to experience college level exams, but this particular Advanced Placement Literature exam was no challenge for Star City High School Student, Mary Capps.

"Normally it is hard for me to test in a classroom full of other students, but I did very well considering how comfortable I was in My grades in English class are very good, so I did not doubt that I would ace the exam. I flew through the multiple choice with no problem and the essay prompts were very clear and to the point. I finished the test kinda early and went back to review my answers, but I was satisfied with what I already had on my answer sheet," she said.

After the exam, all AP Lit students were rewarded with lunch. The school provided pizza from Pizza Pro and the teachers baked desserts.
