For the last two days on the English hallway, there has been nothing but fiestas. The native music, games, and food is what made it fun.

On Cinco De Mayo and the days leading up to it, we learned a lot about the culture and why people celebrate on May 5th. From watching several videos and doing research in Mrs.Greene’s class we learned that it wasn’t there independence day like a lot of us thought. Mexico’s Independence day is on September 16th, on May 5th was the day that Mexico’s troops won The Battle of Puebla which in turn inspired a lot of people. We celebrate Cinco De Mayo here in the United States because of the large population of Mexican people that we have here.

The United States has adopted a lot of things from Mexico one of the most important would be their food. Wherever you go, you’re sure to see a mexican restaurant. Mexican food is something that the people of United States eat often.

On my class’s Cinco De Mayo celebration we broke our pinata inside the building. Normally, we’ll go outside and take turns hitting it, but we didn’t to save time. The smallest person in our room took her turn and ended up knocking the pinata completely off of the stick that it was being held on and into the bookcase like 2 or 3 feet away.
