Approximately 10 people attended the interest meeting to form the “Bee Club” at Star City High School. Junior Noah Harrison is convinced that SCHS needs a bee club and with support from the administration, he forged ahead. Harrison has started a GoFundMe to help raise the fees associated with acquiring the bees. All members will have to attend a rules class to learn proper handling techniques and will also sign a liability waiver. Adviser Chris Jones stated “I’m willing to do anything I can to support my students and their endeavors. I want to help them be successful. Also, it just seems like a fun idea! I’m completely on board. The idea drew Noah’s interest due to declining bee populations. The club’s purpose is to help grow the population, allowing for continued study and honey collection. Once they receive the bees, the hives will be located near the SCHS baseball field. Anyone interested in learning more is invited to club meetings which are held on Thursday afternoons.
